Ruben wrote a great brief that set out his aims for the redesign. I wanted to collaborate with Marc Stuart on this one, so we began the sketchbook process together, working out ways to combine the letters. <img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_prep_v2.jpg" border="0" width="640" height="480" width_o="640" height_o="480" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_prep_v2_o.jpg" align="left" /> <img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_prep.jpg" border="0" width="640" height="480" width_o="640" height_o="480" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_prep_o.jpg" align="left" /> From the early sketches we sent the first to Ruben, all were rejected, so it was back to square one, but at least we had ruled out a few styles. The next three were sent, and Ruben was feeling positive about the monoline style of the last two. <img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_v3.jpg" border="0" width="640" height="480" width_o="640" height_o="480" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_v3_o.jpg" align="left" /> We started refining the monoline design, starting with a new B which started to set the tone for the rest of the characters. We also began a tangent into tapered forms, but that was also turned down and we steered back towards monoline. <img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_v4.jpg" border="0" width="640" height="480" width_o="640" height_o="480" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9118/2228749/DF_Bidsketch_640x480_v4_o.jpg" align="left" /> After many, many hours of drawing and redrawing the curves, fiddling with stroke weight, we finally arrive at our conclusion. It turned out great! Bold, clear but with some nice hand-drawn touches – it was definitely difficult at times but the end-result was worth it. After submitting the final logo, Bidsketch requested we make an upright version, as the script version wasn't going to work with their new look. They also requested a slightly bolder look.
